Woods Club Reopened

The Woods Club was created in 2008 and closed its doors in 2011. But in January 2014, the club reopened with a new owner, Leila Roddenham and a CEO, a Belgian with the name Viktor Galli (he speaks Flemish, like me), who was also the CEO in the Old Woods Club. The club recently celebrated its 6^th birthday in Second Life.

The Woods Club was created by two people, Ezio Gears and Mercedes Auer.They also have an excellent team of managers and DJ/advisors. Club notices state you can find the best quality music there and also a good many DJs. They play different genres like : Techno, House, Electro, Hip Hop, Dubstep, Breaks, Tech House, Afro/Tribal House & Soulful.

They try to separate themselves from other clubs in Second Life by not having a lot of commercial music. They prefer to use more underground sounds. But they try to keep the traditions of the Old Woods Club as well. The owner and the CEO carefully reviewed, planned and put in place each step. If a DJ wants to spin within Woods Club, they need to possess something special, something that another DJ doesn’t have.

When you enter the club a voice says “ No Woods, No Life.” That slogan can be true if you are into dancing in Second Life.

The traffic of visitors varies anywhere between 25,000 to 36,000. They are open Tuesdays through Sundays between 10am and 10 pm. But soon they are going to change the opening hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 8 am to 8 pm. Soon there will be more information will follow shorthy.

Woods Club fans have their own group called “Element the 8^th” which is also owned by Woods Club. They communicate via Facebook and other groups within Second Life. Our readers can find more information about Woods Club on these 3 pages :

Tiki paradise was the very first sim that I ever really enjoyed. It also was one of the very first I went to. While there have been some rough times between me and the staff, I know that they are still great people, and even greater friends. The staff at Tiki Paradise are the best you can ever hope to find. If you're looking for a place to go where the staff treat you as if you're part of their family, then this is the place to be.

While it's a relatively small club, Tiki is still amazingly placed, on a beach. The decorations and the design of the entire club will really make you feel welcome there. Despite it being of simple design, upon first glance, don't count this club out. The detail put into everything here, makes this place a worthwhile place to be.

Of course, I can't forget to mention the owners of this amazing place, Ahoffman Philly and Apolo. These two are unlike a lot of sim owners I have come across. A good number of other sim owners will either not go to their sims, or will stay a very short amount of time. These two, however, are at this sim for most of the time they're online. They show great devotion to this sim, and should be praised for doing so much for it.

The music, despite the name being TIKI Paradise, is of all kinds. Each DJ at the club will play amazing music of their favorite genre, and the favorite genres of the visitors. It's fun to be at the club when the next dj takes over the stream, since the music they will play is a mystery. I have been at a lot of clubs, and most of them have DJs that will tell you their schedule of songs. While here, you can come and listen to music, and not know what's next. Not to mention, all the Dj's leave room in their schedules to take requests, and will make sure they play all the requests that are given to them.

I have visited Tiki enough times to get to know the reality of the club, and I can happily say, that I give this club the following,

Club Cutlass

One of SL’s oldest clubs is a steampunk/pirate inspired club. It’s been around for six years which is a long time for anything in real life or Second Life. Club cutlass may not be popular like IYC or SGB but it’s a long time staple of the Sunweavers. One day when I was djing Jenni Greenfield the longtime manager of Club Cutlass was a nice enough lady to tell me about her club. The Sunweavers are a group of furries that been around SL for a while headed by Rita Mariner who’s usually a bunny.


The Landmark takes you to a floating pirate base with a skull and cross bones dancing floor. In fact to dance you click on the dance floor and your avatar starts dancing in a complex series of dances. Not your average click a ball and pick a single dance ball, but instead a full set of dances to animate your character. Jenni says the club has been through many changes for six years. The newest design is simple and detailed for pirates and party goers of all ages.

One of the djs of Club Cutlass, Cynthia Farshore, likes to play rock music from old to new. Other clubs that came to mind were Dusk Griswold, Akea Grommet, and Shockwave Yareach. (No not the transformer the furry wolf named Shockwave).


Jenni said one of the cool things about Club Cutlass is how there’s little or no drama. One of the plaques I saw was “Drama Llamas will be and shot and mounted (not necessarily in that order).” Every week there’s three events as Jenni ask for DJs to fill those events. Each event has a contest for men and women to win a Linden prize of 200 or so. For example going through the alphabet one event was best in anything U. Lots of furries come to that event in their underwear and or an umbrella. Better ask quickly if you want to dj for one of these three events the slots fill up fast. I procrastinated one time and the next day the slots were all filled already.

I asked Jenni what she liked most about Club Cutlass and here’s what she had to say.

Jenni Greenfield: That we've lasted so long, while I've seen many clubs die after a few months.

That’s certainly true, I agreed. Not all clubs and hang outs stand the test of time.

Jenni said she loves Halloween events around Club Cutlass. I told her in real life that I have a velvet cloak so I never have to buy a Halloween costume anymore. She said something similar

Jenni Greenfield: "I have a black cloak with celtic markings!"

She also admitted to being a puppeteer for a long time like Dusk Griswold. I wrote an article about Dusk and her puppets in the SL Newser. Jenni says she has been puppeting since 2002, but hasn’t been practicing as much as her friend Dusk.


Jenni’s Club cutlass is certainly a neat club to hang out at. The music styles of the DJs are easy going and the conversation is laid back. Usually the DJs are good about music requests just ask and you shall receive. If you want a good place to relax and be a pirate Club cutlass is the place for you.

Club Cutlass is at Sunweaver Space (245, 88, 123), with parties on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 6 to 8PM SL time.
